Former Prime Minister Joe Clark, seen at a 1979 news conference where he discussed his plans to move Canada's embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. (CBC)While running for U.S. president, Donald Trump made a similar pledge to Clark's to move his country's embassy. Trump is not the first U.S. president to pledge moving the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. The Palestinian leadership launched a diplomatic drive to pressure the Trump administration to refrain from recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital and moving its embassy.
