Whatawhata people want a local gathering point on the site of the old hall, behind Village Cafe, work by the Whatawhata Residents and Ratepayers Association found. Plans are afoot for a Whatawhata community hub, and locals are being asked if they support the project. Whatawhata currently doesn't have a designated gathering space but Waikato District Council understands that the community wants one, and is holding an open night on February 12. Work by the Whatawhata Residents and Ratepayers Association shows locals want a gathering point on the site of the old hall - behind Village Cafe. An open evening about the hub will be held at Whatawhata School on Tuesday, February 12, from 5.30 to 7.30pm.
