The announcement was preceded by meetings inside the White House at which attendees were not masked. Press secretary Kayleigh McEnany tested positive Monday, and Stephen Miller, a senior adviser to Trump, tested positive Tuesday. Ray had attended the Gold Star families event at the White House, were no masks or social distancing were evident. Without documenting who might have been exposed to the virus at the White House, there’s at least some deniability, however implausible.
