Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin wants to have his cake and eat it, too. He wants — many of us would say “needs” — to rebuild the team he’s damaged so badly, but he doesn’t want to pay the price of a genuine rebuild. It’s been a blast, as I’ve said on numerous occasions since the beginning of this highly entertaining Habs season. Just in case you have a short memory, this porous defence is the creation of our pal Bergevin. Because he is the highest-paid goaltender in hockey and one of the NHL’s highest-paid players, Price feels he has to carry the team.
