“We had a steady stream of interest, mainly people from Toronto, who were interested in downsizing and loved the beautiful 1865 historic cottage. He incorporated shiplap painted pine floors and rubblerock (brick and stone used in the holds of ship as ballast) in the basement. This home has a great flow for entertaining and a kitchen with a 15-foot island that has seen many great parties, Barrington says. During the restoration/renovation, the interior space was reconfigured by professional designer Scott Elson to suit a more modern lifestyle. “There are so many people in the city who are unhappy because they can’t find an affordable home,” Barrington says.
