It was so achingly poignant and horrific because it actualized one of our deepest, most primal fears — the death of a child. I understand that grief. We kept my daughter’s body in her room for three hours before we called the funeral home to come get her. I can’t help but wonder if Tahlequah is truly done with grief. But I believe that Tahlequah has a lot to teach us about grief, lessons I’ve been learning over the past 16 months.
