General News of Wednesday, 8 April 2026Source: www.ghanaweb.comUK and Ghana-based lawyer Amanda Akuokor Clinton has cautioned the public against interpreting former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta's release from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention as the end of his legal troubles. Speaking exclusively to GhanaWeb's Isaac Dadzie, Clinton clarified that Ofori-Atta's release by judicial order on April 7, 2026, does not mean he has been cleared of any wrongdoing. Ken Ofori-Atta's name no longer on US ICE detainee listClinton explained that Ofori-Atta's detention was triggered by his immigration status rather than a criminal conviction in the US. On reports that Ofori-Atta had a pending green card application at the time of his detention, Clinton clarified that such an application offers no automatic protection. Ofori-Atta's immigration and legal cases, she said, remain very much active.
