Despite President William Ruto's frequent visits to the Western region, it continues to face developmental challenges. Ruto has made multiple trips to Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, and Vihiga, with a minimum of five visits during his presidency. The combined registered voters in Bungoma, Kakamega, Vihiga, and Busia counties amount to 2,217,948, as per the recent count by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission. In Kakamega, Ruto garnered 141,166 votes while Raila received 357,857. This perspective explains why the two leaders are unable to negotiate for substantial projects to benefit the Western region.
