Blogging from the intersection of business and distress can take a person in a lot of different and unexpected directions. Consider the issue, for example, of veterans and servicemembers. All politics are local, true – but so is the economic impact of consumer distress. When I became president of the American Bankruptcy Institute in late April 2018, I got to do two things. The second, and by far, more important, was to announce the formation of ABI’s Task Force on Veterans Affairs – a group formed to explore ways in which the bankruptcy code and rules can work better for veterans and servicemembers.
