And in it, Chelsea were alleged to have spoken to Cole about him possibly leaving Arsenal and signing for the Stamford Bridge club. Cole would later talked about the meeting in his autobiography My Defence. "Not once was there anything mentioned about figures, transfers, further meetings or even leaving Arsenal."
