The younger Jones noted that star running back Ezekiel Elliott would be getting a significant contract extension this offseason. This comes after Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson signed a three-year, $39 million contract with $31.8 million in total guarantees. Perzley noted to me that his client’s three-year deal wil enable Johnson to sign another long-term deal while he’s still in his prime. While we don’t expect Elliott to “settle” for a three-year deal, it wouldn’t necessarily be smart for him to go the five-year route. These are the likeliest scenarios for Elliott once he does sign an extension with Dallas this spring.
