In the aftermath of the false missile alarm that spread panic and terror in Hawaii on Saturday another alarm is sounding: Hawaiians do not know what they should do in the event of a real attack. No one knows that better than the people responsible for making commercial aviation as safe as it is today. A key part of any air accident investigation is understanding the behavior of passengers; What did they do and why? This is why, in addition to finding out why an air accident happened, the probe also focused on how to enhance survivability. Read the news out of Hawaii, however, and it is clear that many people had no idea what to do when the ALL CAPS missile warning appeared on their phones.
