Wetangula declares Banissa MP seat vacant

National Assembly Moses Wetangula has declared a vacancy in the Banissa constituency seat setting the stage for a duel among political parties seeking to capture it. The declaration follows the death of Member of Parliament Kullow Maalim Hassan who was elected during the August 9, 2022, general election on UDM party ticket. The former legislator succumbed to injuries from a motorcycle hit and run in Nairobi's South C area. This now paves way for the electoral commission to conduct the by-election in the electoral area within 90 days of the occurrence of vacancy. He was first elected into parliament in 2017 and was serving his second term as a legislator.
