Hamish Marshall had hoped Wellington's summer would arrive Tuesday, allowing for a day of cricket at the Basin Reserve. Rain set in and saw the match between the Wellington Firebirds and Central Stags abandoned after only 30 overs had been bowled, with the Stags looking on track to post a big total. The rain ended up being Wellington's friend, if you look at the Ford Trophy ladder. Two rounds remain in the Ford Trophy before the finals matches will be set.
