Westminster Dog Show 2017: Rumor the German Shepherd Wins Best In Show

Longtime competitor, Rumor the German Shepherd, won the 141st Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show out of nearly 3,000 canines from 202 breeds at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, February 14. The Best In Show title at Westminster—colloquially considered the "Super Bowl of the dog world"—is the highest prestige a show dog can receive. This year’s event took place at Piers 92 and 94 for Monday’s Best In Breed and Madison Square Garden for Tuesday’s Best in Show finals. The terrier’s dominance is followed by 18 wins in the sporting group, 15 in the working, 11 in the toy, and 10 in the non-sporting. Founded in 1877, the Westminster Dog Show—named after the Manhattan hotel where the club’s founders used to meet—is the largest canine competition in the world.
