Winter storms brought freezing rain, snowfall and traffic jams to various parts of the U.S. on Thanksgiving Day, and heavy weather was threatening to upend travel home for millions of Americans. Unusually heavy snowfall north of Los Angeles shut down an interstate highway there. The powerful storm was expected to bring heavy mountain snow and strong winds across much of the West through the Thanksgiving weekend.
