WestRock (NYSE:WRK) is in discussions to merge with Europe's Smurfit Kappa (OTCPK:SMFTF). WestRock (WRK) has a market cap of $8.2 billion, while Smurfit Kappa (OTCPK:SMFTF) is valued at $10.5 billion. The potential paper mega deal comes after Smurfit Kappa (OTCPK:SMFTF) rejected an unsolicted $10.7 billion bid from International Paper (IP) in 2018. WestRock (WRK) is set to present at the Jefferies Industrials Conference on Thursday morning. Smurfit Kappa was formed in 2005 when Dublin, Ireland-based Jefferson Smurfit combined with smaller Dutch packaging firm Kappa Packaging.
