PHOTO: BRENDA HARWOODThe hilly topography of the West Harbour area caused problems during last weekend's major rain event, cutting off Port Chalmers for a day. West Harbour Community Board member Francisca Griffin went out and about that day with Port Chalmers police officer Senior Constable Steve Tvrdeic, finding roads awash with water and dozens of slips. "That willingness to pull together is one of the things that makes West Harbour such a wonderful area,'' she said. Slips and subsidence remained on many roads in West Harbour, including Back Beach Rd, and would take some time to repair.
