West Coast slip clearedGOOGLE MAPS The slip happened at about 8pm on Friday night on SH6 at Meybille Bay just north of Punakaiki. A slip on the West Coast of the South Island that closed State Highway 6 near Punakaiki has been cleared. The slip happened at about 8pm on Friday night on SH6 at Meybille Bay just north of Punakaiki. About 70 cubic metres of rock and earth fell onto the road and was sluiced away this morning. While the road was closed, traffic between Westport and Greymouth is being detoured through Reefton.
