The husband of Amanzimtoti reverend, Liezel de Jager, was back in the local Magistrates Court on Monday more than two years after she was strangled to death outside her home. Werner de Jager, 42, has been in custody since his arrest in November last year when the SAPS Cold Case Unit swooped on his hideout in Bloemfontein. According to the state, the accused made several attempts to cash out on some policies and will thus face a charge of premeditated murder. Liezel de Jager, who was the reverend at the NG Kerk Suidkus, was strangled to death outside her home, shortly after returning from a morning jog. The matter was postponed to the 24th of January for the state to lead further evidence in the bail hearing.
