A dose of sunshine and a hard slog by workers - rebuilding a near-400 square metre section of road - has seen all warnings lifted on the Wellington region's highways. Resulting flooding closed State Highway 58 between Porirua and Hutt, and forced frantic overnight repairs. NZTA/SUPPLIED Wellington drivers are still being affected by the weekend's storm which saw roads close due to slips and flooding. "The damaged surface was removed and the pavement repaired, before a 396 square metre section was rebuilt using 100mm thick structural asphalt - 100 tonnes of material was used in the repair. "A 93 square metre area of an adjacent driveway was also resurfaced at the same time."
