A car nearly crashed into the Wellington pub the Welsh Dragon. A kowhai tree was the saving grace for a Wellington pub on Saturday. A car came to an abrupt stop when it was heading for the Welsh Dragon Bar just before lunchtime. It hit a tree and was stopped before reaching the garden bar on Kent Terrace at 11.39am. Owner and manager of the Welsh Dragon bar, Andrew Jones wasn't on the premises when the crash happened but was alerted to it via a sent photo.
