Williams lost just four points in the second set. For the third time in the tournament’s history, and the first since 2004, Wimbledon held matches on middle Sunday, its traditional day of rest. The sun shone brightly on Sunday as Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic served during his match at Wimbledon. Kuznetsova, a 31-year-old veteran, has played the 34-year-old Williams 12 times in her career and won just three times. Williams will play Svetlana Kuznetsova on Monday.
