The Chairman, Nigeria Weightlifting Coaches Association, Emeka Ajei, has lamented the lack of competition and sponsors for the federation. Ajei appealed to the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, and other stakeholders, to allow technocrats to run the federation to enable them attract sponsors for the sport’s development. He said, “For the past few years there has been no competition, and the sports festival only comes after two years. Even if they don’t have money they should have ideas on how to bring in sponsors for competitions. This is the reason the coaches under the weightlifting federation have come together to say that we need a technocrat to run weightlifting.”Copyright PUNCH.
