Weekend closures ahead for Gardiner, subway

There’s a rough weekend ahead for Toronto drivers. The Gardiner will be closed from Carlaw Ave. to Highway 427 starting from 11 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday for annual fall maintenance. During the maintenance, workers plan to resurface lanes, inspect bridges, clean and repair catch basins, fix signs, guardrails, potholes and street lights, and more, the City of Toronto said in a news release. The City is asking motorists to use alternate routes during this time, and says it “will make changes to traffic-signal timing,” in an effort to relieve congestion nearby. Commuters won’t get off easy this weekend either though, as the subway will be closed on Line 1 between Finch and Lawrence for track work, the TTC said in a press release.
