YONG PENG: Thousands thronged SJK(C) Yong Peng 1 here to participate in a line up of activities during MCA’s Jom Gerak Teguh Bersama carnival. Housewife Seling Hong, 45, said her family looked forward to and enjoyed participating in such carnivals, especially since Yong Peng was a small town and there was not much to do during the holidays or weekends. The 33-year-old was MCA’s youngest division chief when he took over the Ayer Hitam post three years ago. “The people here are very clear about the kind of development they want for Yong Peng and this can only be done if we have more representation from the Chinese community,” he said. In Yong Peng, there are about 24,000 voters and it is a Chinese majority seat at 61% while Malay voters make up 35% and Indians 4%.
