A Nova Scotia Mi'kmaq woman spent last week on the front lines of the Standing Rock protest in North Dakota, joining protesters speaking out against the $3.8-billion oil pipeline project. Protesters say the Dakota Access pipeline project would threaten sacred land and the main water supply for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe reservation. (Shelley Young)Young says she only felt fearful for her life once during the week she was at Standing Rock. She met people from all over the world who had come there to join in the protest and support the people at Standing Rock. Young says she plans to return to Standing Rock in the next few weeks.
