KUALA LUMPUR: Oil palm smallholders have received RM322 per tonne or a maximum of RM325 per tonne for their crop as of Oct 31, said MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong. He hit out at Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok for saying the price of palm oil fruits had reached RM435 per tonne. And if we look at the actual price, smallholders will receive RM322 per tonne or a maximum of RM325 per tonne as of Oct 31, ” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby yesterday. Kok had said at the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil briefing session to Johor palm growers on Monday that the price of oil palm fruits had hit RM435 per tonne in September, and that it was on the rise. Dr Wee, who is also the Ayer Hitam MP, said Kok’s remarks had angered smallholders in Tanjung Piai and Pontian.
