PONTIAN: Oil palm smallholders are facing hardship with the disappointing price outlook for the commodity and the government has to more in its holistic approach to solve the problem, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng. The Barisan Nasional candidate for the Tanjung Piai parliamentary by-election also said the government did not seem to realise the difficulties faced by the smallholders. "This is why our voice matters," he said, adding that his aspirations for Tanjung Piai remained close to his heart despite losing the seat in GE14. I had to find a job in Kuala Lumpur but I still returned here every month for programmes and meetings with the locals. Wee, who was previously a two-term Tanjung Piai MP and one-term Pekan Nanas assemblyman, also likened the people’s problems as his own and that he would strive to solve it should he be given the chance to return and serve the people here.
