Weather stalls search for missing boaties


A search for two people missing after a boat sank off the West Coast is unable to continue this morning owing to unfavourable weather condiitons. A search was launched yesterday after a someone in a light plane spotted debris and a life raft on the water near Jackson Bay about 11.30am. A helicopter scoured the area and spotted a man on a rock at Niels Beach about 2.40pm. "Two other people who were on the boat, which is believed to have run into trouble on Thursday night, are still missing," police said yesterday. This morning police said any further searching today would be be weather dependentThe vessel is understood to have been a fishing boat from Greymouth.
