By THOMAS P. CALDWELL, LACONIA DAILY SUNFRANKLIN — Construction of the new Daniel Substation on Route 11 is taking place on weekends to make up for work days lost to winter storms. Media Relations Specialist Kaitlyn Woods said Eversource received permission from the city to work last weekend and it will continue for the coming two weekends to maintain the project schedule. The Daniel Substation — named after American statesman Daniel Webster, and not Franklin’s longest-serving mayor and legislator Eugene Daniell Jr. — is located near an existing substation off Webster Lake Road. Wood said the project has involved weekend work a couple of times before, generally due to storm restoration efforts. The city has given permission for weekend work on March 24-25 and April 6-7 to help the company remain on schedule.
