The students were given a brief lecture on the "inherent variability" of weather parameters such as temperature and winds and the need for "vulnerability analysis of various communities". Here's what had the students most interested:Thermometers and the hygrographTextbooks came alive as the students saw the dry bulb thermometer that records the city's official temperature, which is carried in newspapers. Automatic weather station Students had a lot of questions on whether it can be used to save human labour or collect readings from remote areas. It runs on energy from a solar panel and usually measures temperature, wind speed, wind direction, humidity, atmospheric pressure and rainfall and transmits real-time data through satellite.
