The New Zealand Transport Agency closed State Highway 94 from Te Anau to Milford Sound overnight because of forecast snow and avalanche danger. The agency was also advising that caution was needed between Lumsden and Te Anau, and on State Highway 6 between Kingston and Dipton, because of snow and ice. Emergency Management Southland posted on social media on Monday night that a strong wind warning for Southland had been cancelled and replaced with a snow warning for areas north of Gore and above 400m.
