Aucklanders are being warned to prepare for possible power cuts, as a weather system looks set to bring a wet Wednesday for the North Island. A heavy rain warning has been issued by MetService for Bay of Plenty and Taranaki, north of Eltham, from 1am Wednesday through to the afternoon and evening.. METSERVICE Rain will be setting in around the North Island on Tuesday, but the heaviest falls are expected through Wednesday. Bay of Plenty and north Taranaki are expected to experience the heaviest rain from this system. Coromandel Peninsula could get some heavy rain but for a shorter period, starting overnight and lasting through to about 7am Wednesday.
