A wealthy Turkish family at the centre of a major planning row on Britain's 'prettiest street' have abandoned plans for further renovations, the Daily Mail can reveal. The 'endless' building work, which has already lasted a number of years and thought to have cost hundreds of thousands of pounds, has been blasted as 'cultural vandalism' by infuriated residents. Even tourists, who flock to picturesque Bibury from India, Japan and China believe the renovation is 'ruining' the picturesque street. He said: 'This building work has been more than awkward. Neighbour Derek Rarreary, 70, said he was worried the underground building work may lead to the hill itself becoming unsafe.
