Chief Minister Sonowal said the state government is committed to the cause of the people and would always continue working in the greater interests of the state.JPC recently interacted with different organisations on citizenship following which there is protest in different areas. There is pressure from different quarters on Assam government to take Meghalaya like stand where Conard Sangma led Meghalaya democratic alliance which also has BJP in the coalition has decided against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.Sonowal said, “JPC has expressed its intention that it will visit the state again. People can send their views to JPC through emails. I had requested JPC to visit Assam.”He said that there is nothing to worry for JPC is interacting with people and taking their views.He added, “I appeal the people to trust the government for we have nothing to hide we are transparent. When Illegal Migrants (Determination by Tribunal) Act, 1983 (IMDT), was imposed on Assam no effort was made to take peoples view.”
