Talking with ET Now , Chairperson,, highlights the importance of cleaner fuel and how the government's decision to start the ninth round of bidding process for City Gas Distribution Network will help the nation to achieve its target by 2030.Edited excerpts:Till now, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) awarded various companies to do the city gas distribution (CGD) operations in 91 districts. The NCR, Gujarat and Mumbai covers almost 85% to 90% of the City Gas Distribution work in the country. First, natural gas is a much cleaner fuel, it is much more comfortable to be used in the domestic kitchens as well as for the vehicles. The oil marketing companies also have started focussing on City Gas area, knowing that gas is the fuel of future and ultimately they have to maintain their total market share in terms of liquids and gas. Apart from it, GAIL is one company which is also quite focussed in this area through its subsidiaries and joint ventures.
