One doesn’t have to search “reflective gear and pedestrians” on the internet to know that the issuing of fluorescent arm bands to seniors — to anyone who moves about, for that matter — is a useful thing. Reflective gear works. Reflective gear makes it easier for a driver to see someone in the dark. We need better street design, lower speeds, more equitable road sharing and better education to start improving pedestrian safety. But reflective gear might have saved some of those pedestrians — even in the middle of the day.
