It would help detect these budding mass killers if we understood them better. One well known thinker has given one of the better explanations I have seen on why young men turn into mass killers. One common refrain in the past few weeks is that if we restrict our lives because of the mosque shootings, the gunman has won. The other danger we need to avoid is seeing life the way mass killers do. If we start thinking like that we join the land of the dead to which mass killers belong.
