The aloe vera was given by a friend, but the other plants were bought from one of the many nurseries that dot the horticultural hub that is Sungai Buloh. Like many other people, I like going to Sungai Buloh to shop for plants and sometimes succulents because the prices are reasonable and competitive. But that will soon be a thing of the past because the nurseries that have occupied the stretch along Jalan Sungai Buloh since 1999 under a Temporary Occupation Licence (TOL) are being forced to move out. It is apparent that the authorities have washed their hands off this issue, leaving the nurseries to fend for themselves. This way, the state government can get an income and continue to help the nurseries grow the horticulture business, for everyone’s benefit.
