The statement signed by General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia noted that Dr. Bawumia’s lecture was full of “patent misstatements laced with populist rhetoric”, similar to his posturing in 2016. Themed: “Ghana’s rising fiscal risks, financial crunch and external vulnerabilities: A postmortem of the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) Programme and a preview of the economy without the International Monetary Fund (IMF)”, the lecture will focus on pertinent issues regarding Ghana’s economy on a broader scale. His comments follow a Townhall Meeting organized by Government’s Economic Management Team (EMT) on the state of Ghana’s economy. The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia touched on areas including the cedi depreciation, Import duties, exchange rates, macro-economic growth and the fundamentals of the economy.
