Wayne Rooney's brother John revels in his newfound fame with dazzling smile on Gary Neville's podcast - and says he's loving being on the TV after becoming unlikely FA Cup hero

John Rooney became the unlikely hero of the FA Cup third round when his Macclesfield side knocked out holders Crystal Palace - and he says he's loving being on the TV. The 35-year-old brother of Man United legend Wayne was installed as manager of the Silkmen last July, and has already written himself into the history books by claiming the biggest scalp in FA Cup history. But the Silkmen boss says their past two FA Cup games - including their tie against Slough which was broadcast on TNT Sports - have already 'probably covered the budget for the season'. He moved back to England in 2012 with Barnsley and later joined Bury – at a time when brother Wayne was the captain of United. Back in England, John bounced around the National League with Wrexham, Guiseley, Barrow, Stockport City and Oldham Athletic.
