Wayne Rooney had a match to forget as he saw red for a horror challenge on Diego Rossi during DC United's 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Los Angeles FC. The former England and Manchester United captain was shown a straight red for lunging wildly at Rossi, before dangerously catching his opponents' shin with his studs. The referee initially gave Rooney a yellow card before consulting VAR, in which the decision was quickly overturned and a red was handed out instead.
