This comes after his sacking as Birmingham City manager earlier this year, following a desperately poor run of results with just two wins in 15 matches. Plymouth Argyle are currently seeking a new manager after parting ways with Ian Foster in April, only three months into his tenure. After disappointment at Birmingham City, Rooney has spoken about his wish to return to football management. He took over at Birmingham City in October 2023 and was fired in January 2024.
