The names of his children are Sean Brown and Lucy Brown. Brown attributed the budget deficit at the Auckland Council to the outgoing mayor Phil Goff. In addition, Brown asserted that leaving the LGNZ will save the Council roughly NZ$640,000 annually as part of attempts to decrease debt in the 2023–24 budget for Auckland Council.
