Alexander Zverev, the 19-year-old German, won his first ATP title yesterday, defeating Stan Wawrinka, the US Open champion, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 in the final of the Saint Petersburg Open. “I’m full of emotions. I just couldn’t have chosen a better place to win my maiden title,” said Zverev, who has Russian origins. Wawrinka called him “the future of tennis”.
