Water outages: 3,000 homes and businesses affected across Cork City


Some 3,000 homes and businesses have been affected by water outages across Cork City this evening, while repair works are underway to fix a burst watermain in the area. The burst watermain occurred on Military Road, Cork City, on Thursday morning, potentially affecting homeowners in Old Youghal Road. Junction of Audley Place to Gordons Hill, Military Road, Wellington Road, Gardiners Hill, Middle Glanmire Road, Montenotte, Lover Walks, Lower Glanmire Road, Ballyhooley Road, Ballyvolane New Road, Banduff Road and surrounding areas. Those living in the affected areas are warned of discoloured water in their taps, as a result of sediment dislodged from the old cast iron pipes. Ongoing testing and analysis of the water supply continues, in conjunction with extensive monitoring across Cork City’s distribution network.
