Sen. Christopher S. Murphy, a Democrat from Connecticut who made gun control one of his priorities following the massacre of children at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., in 2012, has taken control of the Senate floor . Murphy's Democratic colleagues, including Sen. Bill Nelson of Florida, have been joining him on the floor in support of the effort. He wants the Senate to vote on a measure banning anyone on the no-fly list from purchasing weapons, and says he won't yield his time until the vote happens. As we have been reporting, Democrats in Congress have been pushing the issue in the U.S. House as well.
