Muruiki says county funds must be monitored during the electioneering window to avoid mismanagement. Former Nairobi Central Business District Association chairman Timothy Muruiki yesterday urged the Auditor General to improve county audits ahead of the elections. “Auditor General Edward Ouko should ensure they have offices in every county to make work easier,” Muriuki said. There is no need of having a bloated Parliament if the Senate is not doing its oversight job in the counties,” Muriuki said. “We want to see the Auditor General being very close to counties because governors will spend the money on enriching themselves as they seek re-election,” Muriuki said.
