His legal team was, however, granted 15 days to file documents to contest the ruling. The Court had dismissed an application filed by his lawyers claiming that his arrest and detention were politically motivated. Abu Trica has been in police custody since December 11, 2025, after he was arrested in a joint operation between the FBI and Ghanaian security agencies. Abu is facing up to 20 years in prison if he is convicted in the US for his alleged crimes.
